Zipp 101 XPLR Carbon 28" Gravel Wheelset

The Zipp 101 XPLR introduces the first optimized wheelset for the gravel segment. Unlike high-profile road rims, the 101 XPLR wheels utilize internally developed MOTO technology tested and proven in the mountain biking sector. The straight, single-wall carbon rims offer extremely high vibration damping properties, allowing the wheel to avoid hard impacts and adapt to the terrain, significantly increasing resistance to punctures and providing better traction and cornering grip. With a 27mm inner width, the wheels provide even more volume to wide tubeless tires, securely holding them in place even at very low air pressures. The features of MOTO wheels not only enable energy savings on gravel roads but also result in smoother rolling behavior, reducing fatigue during long bike rides. Optionally available, the TireWiz system provides a comprehensive overview of your tire pressure, matching the wheels.

Total System Efficiency (TSE)

The 101 XPLR wheels were developed under the TSE approach, aiming to find the best wheel design possible to overcome speed barriers under realistic riding conditions. This includes addressing vibration losses in poor road conditions, in addition to wind resistance, gravity, and rolling resistance.

Zipp ZR1 Hubs

The Zipp ZR1 hubs were developed over two years of development in Germany. The standout feature is the extremely fine-toothed freehub body design with 66 locking points per wheel revolution, allowing the ZR1 to respond to acceleration without any delay. The design of the seals is based on the top-level Cognition hubs, providing more protection and durability with a larger dust cap and better seals behind the freehub body.

NOTE: Due to the hookless profile, Zipp 101 XPLR wheels are only compatible with ETRTO-compliant tubeless tires. However, corresponding tubeless tires can be seamlessly ridden on the wheels with an inner tube. You can find a summary of all compatible tires for your Zipp Hookless wheels here.
